I solve problems. I'm not here to say 'please.' I'm here to tell you what to do.
If I'm curt with you, it's because time is a factor. I think fast, I talk fast, and I need you to act fast if you want to get out of this. So pretty please, with sugar on top.
Becker Rules of Engagement for Productive Collaboration
I provide time-critical decision-making in the face of severely incomplete information.
Criticism needs to be honest, professional and constructive, blunt feedback loops are fine. Blind yay-saying prevents critical thinking and team evolution.
Passive-aggressiveness, back handed attacks, as well as attempts at backstabbing are treated like openly offensive acts.
Hypocrisy. You can always count on someone being smarter or more clever than you are. Don't expect lies to hold up.
I trust conditionally and contextually. I trust you with my life but not with my kids. I take incoming info at face value and give you complete credibility. From there, I deduct.
Underhandedness. Power projection by withholding vital information and using the piecemeal release of such information to purchase influence corrupts and weakens you and the team.
Self-aggrandizement and attempts at making yourself look bigger by implying obscure outside sources without attribution is pathetic and makes you a middle-man to cut out.
Hearsay without proof is attempted manipulation and hence discarded. No oblique references, provide a source instead. 'I have heard that...' is almost always trying to manipulate or evoke a decision.
I promote escalating tensions in order to advance a team or group and root out that which doesn't have a sustainable future.
Call me in the face of maximum chaos and drama, and I create minimum production conditions, strategies and tactics, good enough to win whatever there is to win, making it work ANYWAY.
